Enter the world of Ghjunsani and plunge into the heart of one of the most beautiful forests in Corsica. Located inland, the forest is dominated by the imposing Monte Padro which culminates at more than 2300 meters.
Formerly, it was an essential resource in Ghjunsani by the diversity of its species of wood, by its richness in terms of hunting and gathering and its impressive spaces for the shepherds, an ideal place for the summer transhumance.
By its diversity of larici pines, corsican and holly yeuseraie, junipers and tree heather, the forest of Tartaghjine Melaghja (Tartagine Melaja) has obtained the protection of natural area of fauna and flora ecological interest, thus protecting these fragile species . The green oak grove and the juniper grove are now protected by the Natura 2000 zone as habitats for wild species such as the spotted salamander. During your walks you will discover ash trees, birches without forgetting many species of plants such as Tartagine holly and purple foxglove.
